England’s Tour of the West Indies
Sun, sea, sand, and spectacular scenery. The Caribbean is a holiday destination like no other. Throw in fast bowling, unbelievable catches and huge hits; it’s no surprise that a tour of the West Indies is top of the list for many England cricket fans.
England are set to play a three test series against the West Indies in April 2015, with possible contenders for venues being the stunning Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad. England’s Fans were lucky enough to travel to this part of the world in 2014 to see England take on the West Indies in both a One Day and a Twenty20 series with matches in Antigua and Barbados. The tour saw both teams successful with England taking the One Day Series and West Indies triumphing in the Twenty20; and when it comes to test matches things are often just as close.
Whenever England tour the Caribbean for test matches against the West Indies, or vice versa the teams compete for the Wisden Trophy (first awarded in 1963 to celebrate the 100th edition of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack), with England having won and retained the trophy the last time two times the teams met, in 2009 and 2012. The last time they competed on Caribbean soil, however, also in 2009, the Windies came out on top.
April’s test matches promise to be a key date in the calendar for both teams. With a choice of packages available including hotel, flight, transfer and tickets, Thomas Cook Sport is giving you the chance to be a part of the action. Don’t miss out.
