The 7th Monaco Historic Grand Prix takes place two weeks before the Monaco Grand Prix.
The cars race on the same street circuit and the racing is viewed from the very same grandstands which are sold at very much reduced prices, almost 'historic' prices when compared with the costs of a F1 grandstand seat!
Whilst the costs of the seats are much lower, the access to the cars and drivers is much easier.
'Petrol heads' and classic car devotees of all eras mingle with the drivers and owners and it is all very reminiscent of a gentler and more innocent world.
In the past the event is run with the Grand Prix cars and Sports cars dating from pre 1934 to pre 1979 are organised into 6 groups. Each group will take part in two official timed practices on Saturday. The Grand Prix is on Sunday when each race will consist of 10 laps or a maximum of 30 minutes. There will be 15 laps or a maximum of 40 minutes for the F1 - 3 litre race. The exact programme will be confirmed later.
