Laganas Beach Greece
Laganas Beach stretches for nearly 10km, all the way from Kalamaki to Agios Sostis. This golden sandy beach isn't just a great spot to relax and work on your tan, there's plenty happening here too. It's the perfect place to soak up the sun or take a dip in the crystal-clear waters on a hot afternoon.
With its family-friendly facilities, you can easily hire a sunbed and umbrella for a day at Laganas Beach. Why not set up your lounger and relax with a good book, cool off with a paddle in the sea, or challenge the kids to a sandcastle building competition?
If you need refreshments, there are plenty of beach vendors selling drinks and ice cream, as well as bars, restaurants and cafés lining the beachfront. Laganas Beach is a great spot for families with younger children, as the shallow waters slope gently into the sea and the area is fairly sheltered, perfect for timid toe-dippers and paddlers!
Look out for the local loggerhead turtles
If you're looking for something a little more action-packed, there are plenty of options to keep boredom at bay. Due to the presence of native Loggerhead Turtles, there are no water sports allowed on Laganas Beach, but you can always rent a pedalo with the kids or hire a canoe for some family fun.
Taking a boat tour of the spectacular coastline is a relaxing way to while away the day, or hop on a glass-bottom boat to see the turtles for yourself! You may even have time to stop off for a swim, snorkel or scuba dive to appreciate the area's colourful marine life.
If you're close to Agios Sostis, why not cross the wooden footbridge to explore Cameo Island?
We all scream for ice cream!
The bars and restaurants lining the beachfront offer relaxed dining, ideal for families and groups of mates, whether you're in the mood for Gyros, ice cream, or something a little more substantial. Head away from Laganas Beach and into the resort centre and you'll find plenty of British and Irish-style pubs hosting karaoke and quiz nights as well as live music.
Or hit The Strip where you can party until dawn at some of Greece's biggest and most popular nightclubs. For day trips, it's just 15 minutes by bus to Zante Town, where you can enjoy a spot of souvenir shopping, wander around the museums, or just take a stroll around the harbour in the sunshine before heading back to Laganas for dinner.
