For many visitors, strolling around the fort is at the top of their list of things to do in Dubrovnik. You’ll need to buy a ticket to do so; take it at your own pace, and make the most of the spectacular views over the red roofs of the city and out to the bright blue Adriatic Sea. You won’t want to leave without escaping to at least one of the islands off the coast. The uninhabited isle of Lokrum is just a few minutes from the shoreline by taxi boat, and it’s an unspoilt haven of pines, palms and cypress trees.
